Quality Plan
QUALITY ASSURANCE MANUAL
FOR
TESTING MATERIALS AND FRESH CONCRETE
RED SEA READY MIXED CONCRETE COMPANY
CONCRETE BATCH PLANT IN HURGHADA CITY
1. General
The purpose of this plan is to establish a procedural guide for sampling and testing deemed necessary to maintain compliance with the specification requirements. CEL will perform the required quality control tests in the field or laboratory on aggregates, concrete, moisture-density relation and in-place field density tests on fill and backfill materials.
2. PERSONNEL
CEL will assign qualified engineer (s) and, well-trained technician(s) having previous significant experience of such type of works. As a minimum CEL will assign one engineer and one technician for the anticipated level of work. The level of works and related activities will allocate the required number of personnel.
3. EQUIPMENT
The provided equipment and testing facilities will conform to requirements of ASTM standards for both concrete and earth works. CEL will maintain this equipment in a proper condition during the project. Calibration of this equipment will be carried out in accordance to their relevant standard, list of equipment is attached.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE
All tests that will be performed both on site and in laboratory will conform to ASTM, ACI and, project specification requirements. A copy of relevant ASTM and ACI specification will be available in site laboratory. CEL laboratories are now in the training phase to obtain ISO 9001:2000.
5. SAMPLING
5.1 SAMPLING OF AGGREGATES
The sampling procedures of aggregates will be in accordance to ASTM D 75. The minimum size of sample will be in accordance to table (1) of ASTM D 75.
5.2 SAMPLING OF CEMENT
The sampling procedures of cement will be in accordance to
ASTM C 183.
5.3 SAMPLING OF FRESH CONCRETE
The sampling procedures of fresh concrete will be in accordance to ASTM C 172 and C 94. The fresh concrete samples will be obtained at the point of discharge from the truck mixer/agitators.
6-TESTING AND FREQUINCIES
CEL shall perform tests required to verify that control measures are adequate to provide work, which conforms to the project specification. These tests are summarized as follows;
7-AGGREGATES
Initial testing of aggregates will be made to conform the compliance of the source or quarry to ASTM C 33 and/or project specification requirements.
The field testing of aggregates will be in accordance to ASTM specifications and the frequency of testing will be as per the project specification requirements and / or as required by ACI 221R "Guide for Use of Normal Weight and Heavyweight Aggregates in Concrete" as shown below:
